Jackie Lloyd Sweetin, 75, of Kiowa, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024 in McAlester, Oklahoma. Family will greet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home. A graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at Pittsburg Cemetery, in Pittsburg, Oklahoma. Mr. Dee Woods, Jr. will be officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Gary Wilson, Darrel Wilson, Willie Suter, Bennie Stiles, John Shannon, Riley Reeves, Ricky Griffin, and Larry Luman. Jackie was born on August 31, 1949, in Talihina, Oklahoma to Ben Virgil and Freida Francine (Christman) Sweetin. Jackie's early years in Pittsburg were filled with the values of hard work and family, principles that would guide him throughout his life. A true son of Pittsburg County, he lived his entire life within the bounds of the community that he helped to build and sustain. In 1999, he married his wife, Patsy, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Together, they built a life full of love and lasting memories. Professional life for Jackie was deeply rooted in the oil and gas fields of Oklahoma, where he worked diligently to help assemble and maintain the pumps that powered the industry. His strong work ethic was also evident in the way he managed his own farm, taking pride in the land and the cattle that roamed it. Jack's interests extended beyond the pastures of his farm. He relished in taking care of his farm. His happiest moments were those spent with family. His legacy is one of unwavering commitment to the land he loved and the people he held dear. Jackie is preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Sweetin in 2023; his parents, Ben and Francine Sweetin; brother, Ben Shirley Sweetin; sisters, Faye Newton and Mae Stiles; niece, Sherril Wood and Teresa Shields; nephews, Johnny Newton, Chris Newton; a brother-in-law, Harlen Stiles; and a sister-in-law: Alice Sweetin. Jackie is survived by his brother, Bill Sweetin; sisters, Jane Nyre, Sena Sheilds, and Freida McKinney; his children, Jimmy Ray Wood, Judy Griffin and Julia Ann Linscott; his special niece, Melissa Wood; friend, Ricky Griffin. Along with numerous other family members and friends.
