Katherine Sue "Susie" (Rice) Hass, 63 of McAlester died Wednesday, January 8, 2025 in Tulsa surrounded by her children. A rosary will be recited at 5:30 p.m. Monday, January 13, 2025 at Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home with visitation to follow. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 14, 2025 at St. John the Evangelist Church officiated by Rev. Jovita Okonkwo. Burial will follow at Pittsburg Cemetery, Pittsburg. Pallbearers will be: Gunner Hass, Rocky Hass, Lane Hass, Maverick Hass, Jimmy Booth and Alan Martin. Honorary pallbearers will be: Dina Chambers, Julie Everly, Mike Sossamon, Johnny Gibson, Dennis Cook, Billy Hammons, Van Davenport, Ralph Suter, Bear Nixon, Kent Allen and Dennis Mason. Susie was born to Warren H. and Gladys Catherine (Rush) Rice on April 21, 1961. She was raised in Pittsburg and graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1979. She worked in the telecommunications industry for over 21 years and later opened, owned and operated Answering Service of McAlester for 15 years. Susie also served as reserve deputy for Pittsburg County Sheriff Office for 4 years. She enjoyed watching her son's sporting events and taking them to their singings. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy. She loved to spend time with them, watching them play basketball, attending school events and teaching them how to cook. She loved animals, especially horses. Susie enjoyed shopping, crocheting, sewing and watching old westerns on television Susie was preceded in death by her father, Warren Rice; mother, Gladys Rice; brothers, George Rice, Robert "Bebob" Rice; niece, Christina Rice, nephews, Gabriel Marshall, Hank Brown, Seven Kenney, Matthew Rice; and a great niece, Casey Brannon. She is survived by sons, Josh Hass and wife, Jodi of Hartshorne, Randy Hass and wife, Cara, Elijah Hass and wife, Billi all of McAlester; grandchildren, Gunner Hass and wife, Molly, Rocky Hass, Kinsler Hass, Lane Hass, Caisley Chance, Caisyn Grace Hass, Maverick Hass, Daisi Hass, great grandson, Liam Joshua Hass; brothers, Jimmy Rice and wife, Carol; Ronnie Rice and wife, Debbie; sister, Melba Keck; sisters-in-law, Elaine Rice and Keitha Hammerman and husband, Bob; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
