Betty Lou Blessing, 67, of Savanna, died Friday, October 3, 2014 at her residence. The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday at Bishop Funeral Service. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 9 at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Rev. David Hall officiating. Interment will be at Pittsburg Cemetery. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service. Betty was born to Ray and Opal (Ellison) Wood on January 31, 1947 in McAlester. She graduated from Pittsburg High School. Betty worked as a LPN at Oklahoma State Penitentiary retiring in 2009. She was an avid collector of antiques and owned and operated Antiques Plus in Savanna. She enjoyed her grandchildren and going to garage sales and auctions. Betty was a member of the Baptist Faith and attended Savanna Baptist Church. She married George Blessing in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. She was cherished by her husband and beloved by her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband: George Blessing of the home; sons: Robert Hicks and wife, Jackie of Tulsa, Raymond Hicks and wife, Michele of Pittsburg, George A. Blessing & wife, Jackie of Stillwater; daughters: Rocky Blessing Mulliken of Wenatchee, Washington, Paddy Blessing of Wenatchee, Washington; brother: John Wood and wife, Pat of Pittsburg; fifteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Ray and Opal Wood; husband: Victor Hicks; brothers: Bob Wood, Charles Wood, Dee Wood, George Wood; sisters-in-law: Dale Wood, Norma Wood, Bo Wood, and Shirley Wood; aunt and uncle: Marie and Toolie Ryan. Pallbearers will be Bronson Hicks, Raymond Hicks, Jared Hicks, Brian Maxwell, Garry Wood, and Jimmy Ray Wood. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Bo Ryan, Garrett Hicks, Cory Hicks, Joe Ryan, Jimmy Rice, and Ronnie Rice.
