Carl Milton Baker, 87, of Pittsburg, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, in Pittsburg, Oklahoma. Viewing will be 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024 at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Bishop Chapel of Memories. Rev. Jim Ray will be officiating. Burial will follow at Pittsburg Cemetery in Pittsburg, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Leo Hanley, Travis Harvey, Brent Stone, Mike Stone, Todd Stone, and Doug Baker. Honorary pallbearers will be Alan Lay, Daniel Dibble, Javin James, Kindin Dibble, and Anthony Tate. Carl was born on June 19, 1936, in Blocker, Oklahoma to James Oscar and Myrtle Alta (Long) Baker. Carl graduated from Indianola High School in 1954 and resided in Pittsburg. Carl married Doris Scott on April 11, 1964. Their union was blessed with children and years of shared happiness until her passing in 1994. Carl found love again and married Janice (Bench) Baker on July 13, 1995, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, with whom he shared the remainder of his life. A man of many talents, Carl embarked on a career in construction after high school. He was a skilled builder, known for his craftsmanship in building barns and fences. His hardworking hands also tended to the farm and raising cattle. Carl's work ethic and commitment earned him the respect and admiration of all who knew him. Carl was a man who enjoyed the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and tending to his garden. These simple pleasures were a source of relaxation and reflection for Carl, and he often shared these moments with those he loved most. Preceded in death by former wife in 1994: Doris (Scott) Baker; parents: James and Myrtle Baker; son in 1983: Dan Baker; siblings: Lorene Shaffer, Charlie Baker, Virgina Beshear, James Baker, Georgina Browder, and Jiles Baker. Survived by wife of the home: Janice (Bench) Baker; children: Sarah Hanley and husband, Leo of Pittsburg, Carolyn Yvonne Fritz of Owasso, Tammy Tate and husband, Anthony of McAlester, Eric Scott of Pittsburg, Chad Scott and wife, Marlene of McAlester; sisters: Ruth Vannoy, Pauline Burke both of Tulsa; grandchildren, Daniel Dibble of Kiowa, Stacey Harvey and husband, Travis of McAlester, Sheri Reynolds and husband, Eli of Shawnee, Lindy Rowland, Connie Marsh, Christina Phillips, Jeremy Whitten all of Owasso; great-grandchildren, Javin James, Kindin Dibble, Kiley Dibble, Kasi Dibble, all of Kiowa, Kayden James, Sophia James both of McAlester, Kaleb Dibble of Kiowa, Ava Harvey, Zoe Harvey, Kamilla Harvey, Bellz Harvey, Gunr Harvey all of McAlester, Luca Reynolds of Shawnee; numerous other family members and friends.
