Bower Cemetery

Pittsburg County, Oklahoma

Mr. Johnny Lee Mills, 74, of Quinton, passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at his home. He was born September 26, 1940 to Oscar Mills and Thula (Couch) Mills at Bower, Oklahoma. He grew up at Bower where he attended school. He graduated from Stigler High School. Johnny served his country with the United States Army for three years stationed in North Carolina 82nd Airborne Division. Johnny married Alma Frances Stewart, March 24, 1963 he began a career as a carpenter, working on the Dams at Eufaula and Kerr Lake. He was a Coal Miner for ten years. He then began working for the Department of Corrections as a Transport Guard for twenty plus years before retirement. Johnny enjoyed fishing, he loved his Harley Motorcycles. He enjoyed boating on the lake and most of all he loved spending time with his family. He will be missed by all who loved and knew him. Johnny is survived by his wife, Fran Mills of the home; his daughter, Tina Wallis and husband Greg of Poteau; his son, Rodney Dean Mills of San Antonio, Texas; seven grandchildren, David, Tiffany, Brooke, Timothy, Dominic, Tyler, Lillian Elizabeth ; six great grandchildren, Gunnar, Kaylee, Paisley, Alexis, Sophia, Cayston; his sister, Sandy Parks of Hoyt. He is preceded in death by his parents, Oscar Lee and Thula Mills. Services will be Friday, September 11, 2015, 11:00 A.M. at Bower Cemetery in Longtown with Chaplin Bill Holcomb officiating. Pallbearers include Tommy Miller, David Brady, Blake Parks, Eugene Bedford, Louis Bedford, Steve Bedford, Fred Bedford.
