Blue Cemetery
Jessie Lou (Vaughan) Schoggins, 70, of McAlester, died Sunday, April 5, 2015 at a local nursing center.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 8 at Bishop Chapel of Memories with Rev. Terry Brinkley and Rev. J.T. Carnell officiating. Interment will be at Blue Cemetery. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.
Born to Dewey and Ida (White) Vaughan May 26, 1944 in Ulan, Jessie attended Ulan and McAlester Schools.
She married Hurmie Schoggins March 31, 1960 in Eufaula.
She had worked at area nursing homes and then 75 Cleaners before retiring. She was also a Mary Kay Sales Representative for over 20 years.
Jessie was a member of the Haywood Baptist Church. She enjoyed painting, growing flowers, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her sons: Darren Schoggins and wife, Kathy of McAlester, Dewight Schoggins of Stuart, David Schoggins and wife, April of Euless, Texas; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters: Helen Fry and husband, James of Indianola, Wanda Janosik and husband Rudy of Simms, Texas, Glenda Vaughan of McAlester; brother: Carl Vaughan and wife, Sheryl of Palestine, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Dewey and Ida Vaughan; her husband: Hurmie Schoggins; brother: Richard Steward; sisters: Magolene Little, Myrtle Steward, and Mildred Cummings; and a grandson: Joseph Schoggins.
Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
