Robert James Carney, 72, of McAlester, Oklahoma passed away on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at his home. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2024 at the Blanco Baptist Church with Terry Williams officiating. The burial will follow at Blanco Cemetery in Blanco, Oklahoma. Pallbearers will be Joey Carney, Robert Carney, Roy Carney, Matt Isom, Russell Carney, Nathan Carney, Terrence Isom, Jr, Jonathon Isom, Eric Husong, Justin Husong, Alex Husong, Blake McClendon, Anthony Carney, Jesse Carney, and Michael Carney. Robert was born on April 19, 1952 in McAlester, Oklahoma to Jesse Carney and Josephine (Dailey) Carney whom preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his aunts and uncles: Margaret Carney, Laura Dailey, Leroy Dailey, and James Daily; and cousin, Paul Carney. He is survived by his children: Angela Husong and husband, Mark of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Robert Carney, Jr. of Hartshorne, Oklahoma, Brenda McClendon and husband, Billy of Arpelar, Oklahoma, Roy Carney of Haileyville, Oklahoma, Jennifer Nance of Cushing, Oklahoma, and Joey Carney and wife, Karen of McAlester, Oklahoma; his grandchildren: Eric, Kristen, Justin, Alex, Anthony, Michael, Jesse, Leah, Robert, Garrett, Heather, Courtney, Russell, Matt, Terrence Jr., Jonathon Blake, Tristan, Kyle, Lucas, Sierra, Dakota, Kelli, Jessica, Nathan, Jazlyne, and Camden; numerous great grandchildren; his brother, Roy Gene Carney and wife, Julie of Bixby, Oklahoma; dear friend, Yvonne Williams of Blanco; and other family and friends. Robert worked as a ranch hand and also as a landscaper. He was hard-working, with a quiet and caring spirit. His joy in life came from his family, and working with cattle. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching old movies.
