Brumley-Mills Funeral Home, McAlester, OK

Billy John Trammell, Sr., 75, of McAlester, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2024 in McAlester. The family will welcome friends for visitation on Thursday, February 15, at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services are Friday, February 16, at 10:00 a.m. at Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel, with Ralph Jernigan and Carlis McKamie officiating and congregational singing led by William St. John. Burial will follow at Ashland Cemetery. Billy Trammell, Sr. was born on May 14, 1948 in McAlester to Leo and Opal (Baucom) Trammell. He grew up here and has lived here all his life. He and Beatrice Bernice Cacy were married on November 2, 1966 and continued to make their home in McAlester over the next 57 years. Billy worked as a manager at Big V Feeds for 38 years, a result of his strong work ethic. Billy was a long-time member of the Church of Christ and enjoyed visiting and teaching at surrounding congregations. He kept busy at home, as well. He was an amateur photographer, focusing on nature of all kinds. He was an amateur HAM radio operator and enjoyed raising poultry in his little backyard barn. He could be known to let fishing get his attention occasionally, as well. His most favorite pastime was enjoying precious moments with his wife and family. Billy is survived by his wife, Bernice; two sons and daughters-in-law, Billy J. Trammell, Jr. and wife Alisa, and Thurman Trammell and wife Elicia; grandchildren, Carolynn Bohanan and husband Lance, Kristen Nelson and husband Devin, Brittany Smith and husband Shane, Kathryn Sawhney and husband Harkaran, Matthew Trammell and wife Erika, Billy J. Trammell, III, and Ashley Trammell; great grandchildren, Max, McKinnley, Elliot, Case, Madison, and Rylann; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Corky Trammell and wife Becky, and Henry Trammell and wife Dianne; sisters-in-law, Gladys Garner and husband Clifford, Cheryl Sexton, and Connie Barringer; and brothers-in-law, Donnie Cacy, Jim Roberts and Carl Sexton and numerous nieces and nephews. Billy was preceded in death by his parents, Opal and Leo Trammell, a son, Charles Andrew Trammell; two sisters and their spouses, Vera and Junior Jackson, Edith and Dwayne Mosley, and sister, Kay Roberts; Two brothers, Darrell "Bo" Trammell, and William Andrew Trammell; sister-in-law Vicky McGill and two brothers-in-law, Truman Cacy and William Cacy. Pallbearers are Matthew Trammell, Billy Trammell, III, Lance Bohanan, Devin Nelson, Juan Medina, Darrell Trammell, and Shane Smith. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Verner, David Verner, Jimmy Davenport, Brent Thetford, and Craig Compton.
