Myrna Louise Nelson, 81, of Ashland, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, July 30, 2024, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, leaving a legacy of care and compassion. Family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, 2024 at Bishop Funeral Service and Crematory. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 2, 2024 at Ashland Baptist Church. Officiating will be Reverend Ed Garrett. Burial will follow at Ashland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Dewey Wimberley, Mark Marchus, Jason Ward, Tracy Gardner, Morgan Gardner, and Wyatt Gardner. Honorary pallbearers will be Dale Wimberley, Brad Inman, and All the Men of The Ashland Baptist Church. Myrna was born on August 17, 1942, in Konawa, Oklahoma to George Nash and Ila (Landrith) Nash. After completing her high school education, Myrna pursued a career that would allow her to extend her nurturing spirit to those in need. She became a Certified Nursing Assistant and offered over two decades of dedicated service to various healthcare facilities in Oklahoma, including the Old Clinic in McAlester and Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City. Her gentle touch and warm presence were a comfort to countless patients and a testament to her loving nature. In 1975, Myrna married her beloved husband, Delbert Nelson, and together they built a life filled with shared values and mutual respect. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her long-standing membership with the Ashland Baptist Church, where she was a cherished member of the congregation. Myrna's creativity shone through in her interests outside of her professional life. She had a passion for sewing and crafting, hobbies that not only brought her personal joy but also allowed her to spread beauty to others. Her handcrafted floral arrangements graced the cemetery, a symbol of her enduring care and attention to the memory of those who had passed. Those who knew Myrna will remember her as a loving and spirited soul, whose generosity knew no bounds. Myrna is preceded in death by her parents: George Nash and Ila (Landrith) Nash; sister, Nywana Gober; and brother, George Dee. Myrna is survived by husband: Delbert Nelson of the home; her son: Darren Nash and wife, Arliene of Stuart; sisters: Paulette Blakeslee and husband, Jonathan of Pittsburg, Peggy Helzer and husband, Jerry of Harrah, Barabra Nash of Ashland; grandchildren: Wyatt Howry of Stuart, Geena Howry of Yukon, Kendra Nash of Stuart; one great-granddaughter: Solana Parrish of Yukon; numerous other family members, several nieces and nephews, and friends. A special thank you for all the assistance and care from the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff at the Cornerstone Hospital in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
