Submitted by: Carol Rice

Loretta Faye Scarbrough, affectionately known as "Nan," passed away on May 25, 2024, at the age of 95. Born on January 3, 1929, to William Esther Blevins and Keddie Blevins (Smalley), Loretta spent her childhood on a farm, surrounded by the love of her three sisters and one brother. On December 24, 1946, Loretta married her beloved husband, Lester Leon Scarbrough. Their union was blessed with three children: Leonard Scarbrough, Glenda Tompkins, and Danny Scarbrough. Loretta and Leon shared a life full of love and partnership, working side-by-side at their company, Super Vac. Loretta also held various jobs, including positions at Bluebell Wrangler Factory and Phillips 66, while dedicating herself to being a devoted stay-at-home mom. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, her brother W.E. Blevins, Jr., and her sister Melba Clark. She is survived by her loving family: her children, Leonard Scarbrough (and his wife Rena), Glenda Tompkins (and her husband Andy), and Danny Scarbrough (and his wife Doris). Loretta will be deeply missed by her sisters Virginia Johnson and Wilma Lee. She leaves behind a legacy of love with her grandchildren, Krista Ross, Bill Scarbrough, Amanda Tompkins, Kyle Tompkins, Ethan Scarbrough, and Riley Scarbrough, as well as her great-grandchildren, Isabelle Scarbrough, Rhianna Scarbrough, and Hayden Scarbrough. Loretta was a quilter and enjoyed sewing, needlepoint, painting, and crocheting. She was a wonderful mother and an exceptional cook, and she cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. The best mother anyone could want.
