Betty Edwards, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2023, in McAlester, Oklahoma. A graveside funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 27, 2023 at Arpelar Cemetery with Chaplain Monte Busby officiating. The burial will follow. Pallbearers will be Patrick Madden, Brice Madden, James Madden, and Toby Campbell. Betty was born on June 21, 1940, in Sherwood, Oklahoma to David Earl Imler and Nellie Ida (Burgen) Imler. Betty married the love of her life, Leonard Roberts Edwards, on November 5, 1982 in McAlester, Oklahoma. Leonard preceded her in death on April 21, 2013. She is also preceded in death by her parents: David and Ida Imler; her brothers: Bobby Imler, Willard Imler and his wife, Connie, and Robert Earl Imler; and her sister: Lois Skaggs. Betty is survived by her daughter: April Madden and her husband, Patrick, of McAlester; her grandchildren: Hunter Wright, Patrick Madden, Jr., and Eyan Madden; her sister-in-law: Janell Imler; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind family friends: Summer Wright and her husband, Michael, and their children: Xavier, Kya, and Leah. Each of them will remember Betty for her loving nature and the joy she brought into their lives. Betty spent her professional life as a seamstress for Komar Manufacturing, where she was able to express her creativity and attention to detail. Her work was a reflection of her dedication and passion for her craft. Outside of her professional life, Betty was known for her talents in embroidery, crafting, crocheting, and knitting. Her handmade creations were not just items, but expressions of her love and care. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of New Hope Retirement and Care Center and Heartland Hospice for their exceptional care and support during Betty's final days. Their dedication and compassion made a significant difference in her life and the lives of her family. Betty will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the love and joy she brought to the world.
