Troy Darren Grumbine

April 4, 1969 ~ February 2, 2004

Troy Darren Grumbine, 34, of Irving, Texas, died February 2, 2004 in San Simon, Arizona.

A memorial service will be held at All Saints Episcopal Church in McAlester with The Rev. Stephanie Swinnea officiating. Inurnment will be at the All Saints Episcopal Church Columbarium. Service arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service.

Born April 4, 1969 in Irving, Texas to Grant Grumbine, III and Kay (Lane) Grumbine, Troy grew up in Irving and received his education there, graduating from MacArthur High School in 1987. Troy served as President of the Junior National Honor Society and as President of the National Honor Society. He was also a member of the Academic Decathlon Team, co-editor of the school newspaper, and Treasurer of his senior class.

Troy furthered his education by attending North Lake College in Irving and later the University of Texas in Arlington. He aspired to be an attorney and had been accepted to Baylor University.

An avid sports fan, Troy enjoyed keeping up with his big brother during his collegiate football career as well as following the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, and Texas Rangers.

Troy last worked as a trainer for Bass Pro Shops and was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer in Irving.

He was a very pleasing person with a gentle personality and a big smile. Troy made and kept numerous friends who join his family in bitter sweet recognition that Troy is at rest.

He is survived by his parents: Grant and Kay Grumbine of McAlester; brother: Steven Grumbine of Ozark, Missouri; niece, Hannah Grumbine of Ozark, Missouri; and nephew: David Grumbine of Ozark, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents: Levi and Josephine Grumbine, formerly of St. Joseph, Missouri; and his maternal grandparents: Gilbert and Viola Lane, formerly of McAlester.

Memorials may be made to the All Saints Episcopal Church, 325 E. Washington, McAlester, Oklahoma 74501 and will be used to purchase new choir robes, organ repairs and purchase new music.
