Press Stillwater, Oklahoma November 2013 Ralph Buford Chilton June 23, 1928 ~ November 29, 2013 Ralph was born on June 23, 1928 to James and Cordelia Chilton in Elida, New Mexico. Ralph attended high school and graduated at Elida High School. Ralph married Leora Smith on May 20, 1950 in Elida, New Mexico. They were married for more than fifty years until her death in 2002. Ralph was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Stillwater. He was self employed in the construction industry and ran Ralph's Furniture Store in Stillwater. He was inducted into the Senior Softball Hall of fame in September 2003. He enjoyed reading and attending family and school reunions. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Leora and one son Lewis Keith Chilton. Ralph is survived by two sons Milton and his wife Judy, Gary and his wife Karen, and one daughter Cheryl Chilton. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Jason, James, Chris, and Crystal Chilton, and also four Great grandchildren Taylor, Ryan, Morgan and Katelyn Chilton; and one sister Jimmie Lou Winfrey. Pallbearers will be Jason Chilton, Jeremy Chilton, Chris Chilton, Jerald Manasco, JD Winterhalter and Duke Younger. Press Stillwater, Oklahoma September 2002 Leora Gelene [Smith] Chilton January 16, 1927 ~ September 25, 2002 Leora Gelene Chilton, 75, died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at Stillwater Medical Center. Services, with the Rev. Bob Vaught presiding, will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Strode Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Strode Funeral Home is directing the arrangements. She was born in Covington Jan. 16, 1927, to Lawrence F. and Alice (Culie) Smith. She married Ralph B. Chilton May 20, 1950, in Elida, N.M. She attended school in Tryon, Spring Valley and Eureka and graduated from Stillwater High School. She graduated from Oklahoma A and M in home economics and taught home economics in Elida, Rattan and Perry. In 1952 the couple moved to Oklahoma and for a number of years owned and operated Ralph's Furniture Mart on South Main Street. They later developed the Summit Addition, southwest of Stillwater. At the time of her death she was retired. She loved doing for her family, gardening, reading, bird watching and attending church. She had been a member of Southside Baptist Church since her college days. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Lewis Keith Chilton. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Milton Wayne Chilton and his wife Judy of Las Vegas, Nev., and Gary Lynn Chilton and his wife Karen, also of Las Vegas; one daughter, Cheryl Anne Chilton of Stillwater; four grandchildren, Jason, Jeremy, Crystal and Chris Chilton of Las Vegas; two brothers, Frank L. Smith of Stillwater and Marvin Smith of Roxton, Texas; and one sister, Twyla Winterhalter of Stillwater.
