© Davis Funeral Home Cushing, Oklahoma April 2006 February 2, 1920 ~ April 28, 2006 Edward Lee Gentry, of Stillwater, died Friday, April 28, 2006 in the Stillwater Medical Center at the age of 86 years. He was born on February 2, 1920 in Redbird to the late Wesley and Corabel Washington Gentry. He attended school in Redbird, Broken Arrow and Mounds. Edward served in the United States Army and was stationed in Alaska. Upon his honorable discharge from the military, he resided in Stillwater and later moved to Denver, CO, where he was employed by Mile High Nursing Center as an ambulance driver. In the late 1950's, he returned to Stillwater, working as a custodian for Wilham Hall at Oklahoma State University until his health began to fail. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Stillwater. Survivors include one sister, Ruby [Linzy] Brannon of Cushing; one daughter, Evelyn Kay McIntyre and her husband Walter of Richmond, CA; four grandchildren, Simone Waters of Stillwater, Maylene Waters, Chad Waters and Russell Johnson all of Richmond; one niece, Ella Vick-Dickens and her husband Joseph, Sr. of Stillwater; special friends, Erma Anderson of Stillwater, Wanda Lee Long of Oklahoma City, Gallic Teague of Muskogee, Frankie Lee Bryant and R.T. Slade of Stillwater; many other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Rosa Lee Vick; two nieces, Willie Marion [Sweetie] Shinault and Ola Mae Shamley and one nephew, Alonzo [Sonny Boy] Vick. Pallbearers will be James Washington, Joseph Dickens, Jr., Terry Shinault, Wilburd Eugene Shinault, Steven E Jones and Gary Morris. Flower bearers will be Lillie Pearl Lewis, Dorothy Shinault and Glendola Vick. Services will be held Friday, May 5, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 1001 N. Cleveland, Cushing, with Reverend Johnson Vickers officiating. Burial will follow in the Silver Star Cemetery. |
