Paul Thompson, retired Cushing city employee, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2006 at his home at the age of 86 years.

The son of the late Willie Bill Thompson and Bessie Ora Buxton Thompson, Paul was born on Sept. 16, 1919 in Cushing, OK and was reared and educated here.

He was united in marriage to Maxine Robertson on Sept. 13, 1964 in Cushing and to this union four children, Yvonne, Paul Jr., Melody and Wesley were born.

Paul had worked for the city water department and later for the city street department prior to his retirement in 1984. He enjoyed watching TV, listening to country music and visiting with his family and friends.

Surviving include his wife Maxine of the home; his children, Yvonne Day, Paul Thompson, Jr., Melody Gayle Thompson and Wesley Thompson all of Cushing; two brothers, Frank Thompson and Lee Thompson both of Cushing; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one grandson Preston Thompson and several brothers and sisters including Willie and Charlie Thompson.

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at 2 P.M. in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
