Alan Brent Hitch, a former Cushing resident and graduate of Cushing High School, now of Stillwater, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2008, in Oklahoma City at the age of 50 years.

The son of Garry Hitch and Sammy Hitch Gourley, Brent was born on December 16, 1957 in Cushing, where he was reared and educated.

He was united in marriage to Nancy Lu Newberry on October 7, 1976 at his mother-in-laws home in Cushing and to this union, one son Brent was born.

Brent, remembered by his grandchildren as “Coach”, enjoyed spending time and taking care of his family and grandchildren and especially his wife.

He also enjoyed fishing and working.

He was a born again Christian.

Brent had worked for Mercury Marine for over 27 years.

Survivors include his wife of over 31 years, Nancy of the home; his parents, Garry Hitch of Drumright and Sammy Gourley of Stillwater; one son, Brent Hitch of Pawhuska; two grandchildren, Ashton Carpenter Hitch and Blayze Kyler Hitch; one brother Kelley Hitch and his wife Melissa of Stillwater and several step brothers and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his step-dad, Don Gourley, father-in-law, Don Newberry and grandparents, Sam and Juanita O’Kelley and George and Nellie Hitch.

Services will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. in the Davis Memorial Chapel with Bill Allton, Jr., officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
