Victor Glen Day, retired rancher and longtime employee of Sun Oil Company, passed away Thursday morning, Sept. 16, 2010, at the age of 91 years, five days short of his 92nd birthday.
The son of the late George L. Day and Lulla Richardson Day, Victor was born on Sept. 21, 1918 in Slick, OK and was raised and educated in the Quay area, graduating from Quay High School.
He was united in marriage to Ethel B. Due on April 3, 1942 and she preceded him in death in August of 1971. He was married to Louverne Odom in 1972 and she preceded him in death in 1998.
Following high school, Victor entered the United States Army Air Corps and received his honorable discharge as a Tech Sergeant.
Victor had worked for Sun Oil Company for over 27 years prior to his retirement, retiring as a field supervisor.
He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Yale, serving as a Deacon for over 50 years; he was a former member of the Gideon’s International; and a member of the American Legion.
He enjoyed traveling, raising cattle, and was a devoted Christian and was very proud of the fact that he read his Bible daily, always reading a chapter of Proverbs.
Survivors include two sons, Gene Day and his wife Becky of Stillwater and Gordon Day and his wife Linda of Broken Arrow; two step-daughters, Patsy Allen of Owasso and Carolyn Stewart of Duncan; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and both wives, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy and George Day; one sister Margaret Loney, and a step-daughter Joella Blalack.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 at 2 P.M. in the Lawson Cemetery at Yale with Brother Mich Dershem, officiating.
The family will greet friends on Friday evening from 6 till 8 p.m. in the Davis Yale Chapel at Yale.
