Darrell Wayne Davis, a longtime Cushing resident and the Oak Grove Community, passed away early Thursday morning at his home.
Darrell Wayne Davis was born on March 18, 1943 in Dixon, California to the late Clarence C. and Alta Mae (Toon) Davis.
He married the love of his life Vida Sneed on November 27, 1961 in Muskogee, Oklahoma.
Darrell joined the U.S. Army in June 1961 until May of 1970. He continued Service with the National Guard until June 1990.
He worked for CE NATCO, Latoka Engineering, District County one, and drove a milk truck for Farmfresh and MTC. Also taught welding some for Central Vo-Tech in Drumright, Ok.
After retirement he volunteered and drove Veterans to Oklahoma City.
Darrell enjoyed welding and working with guns, watching Sy-Fy on TV and old western movies.
He was a member of Mehan Union Church, Veterans of Foreign War, American Legion, Disabled Veterans, NRA ad Ingall’s Community Club, and also life member of American Hunting Club.
He is survived by his wife Vida Jean Davis of the home, sons Gerald Davis, Brian Davis and wife Beth, daughter Carla Anderson and Jimmy Anderson, grandchildren Shannon, Sarah, G.W. Jr., Dalton, Heather, Farran, John and Kassel, great grandchildren, Drake, Brooklyn, Kolten, Addie, Julia, Addison and Macie. He is also survived by his brother Sam Davis of Cache, Ok., sisters Margie Revels of Shawnee, Faye Hays of Broken Arrow, and Joy Butterfield of Cushing, also numerous nieces and nephews.
Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clarence Jr., David, John William and Everett.
Funeral services will be held at the Mehan Union Church in Ripley at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 29, 2015. Interment will follow at Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery, Cushing, Oklahoma with U.S. Army presenting honors.
Family will greet friends Sunday afternoon from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, OK.
Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Cushing, Ok.
Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
