Treva passed away peacefully on Thursday morning June 3, 2010 at the Golden Oaks assisted living center in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Treva was 91 years old at the time of her passing. She was loved and respected by her family and friends.

Treva O. Courtney was born March 12, 1919 southeast of Cushing. When she was 6 years old her family moved to the Schlegel community.

Her parents were, James C. O’Kelley and Elizabeth (Miller) O’Kelley.

Treva was the youngest of 7 children and the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Treva married Glen Elton Courtney on Nov. 10, 1937 in Cushing. To this union two daughters, Dana and Donna, were born.

Treva was a member of the First Baptist Church of Yale, Oklahoma since 1947.

In 1946 Treva was employed with General Telephone Company for 7 years, Aug 19, 1946 until June 15, 1953. She went from there to the Yale Post Office where she served as Postmaster from June 16, 1953 until she retired in April 1979, working for 26 years. Treva served as Postmaster longer than any other Postmaster in Yale to date. She was a member of the National Association of Postmasters.

Treva was predeceased by husband Glen Courtney, Feb. 27, 1985; her youngest daughter, Donna J. Brown, November 1986; one grandson, Bryan C. McCoy, June 1998 and her parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Survivors include 1 daughter, Dana Donavan of Stillwater, Oklahoma; two granddaughters, Jennifer Mueggenborg of Yale, Oklahoma and Courtney Gleghorn of Weatherford, Texas; two grandsons, John McCoy of Sperry, Oklahoma and Douglas Brown of Little Elm, Texas; 8 great grandchildren; 4 great- great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 4:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church Yale with Dr. Grant Wyse officiating.

Burial will follow in the Lawson Cemetery.
