Eric Big Soldier Wood (Rocko), 56, passed from this world on December 12, 2017 in Chandler, OK. Services will be 12:00 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Bah Kho Je Chena Building in Perkins, OK. Interment will follow at the Kent Family Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Eric was born on November 1, 1961 to Freeland Wood Jr. and Emma Louise Smith in Oklahoma City, OK. Eric attended Shawnee Public schools. Afterward he went on to further his training for a career in Carpentry and construction.
Eric was a lifelong artist with a strong passion for Native American art. His paintings are displayed in museums and art galleries in Oklahoma, Missouri, and the state capitol of Iowa. His other favorite past time was fishing. He was a proud member of the Glorietta Baptist Church and the Iowa Tribe. Eric was a friendly easy going kind of guy. A very loving father, son, brother, nephew, uncle and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his father; brother’s Kenneth, Stephen, Bryon Keith and Quinton Todd.
He is survived by his mother; two sons, Eric and Eli; four daughters, Elena, Erin, Kaylon and Nicole; seven grandchildren, Paxton, Nate, Elle, Kinsley, Kaden, Eric and Hendrix; one sister, Robyne; one brother, Eddie Paul; three uncles, H.D. Wood, Jacob Big Soldier, Jr. and Eugene Big Soldier, Sr; four aunts, Patricia Ward, JoAnn Mayes, Joyce Miller, and Linda Big Soldier.
