© Davis Funeral Home Cushing, Oklahoma January 2011 October 17, 1943 ~ January 6, 2011 Teddy Lee Riggs, retired from Central Vo-Tech, passed away early Thursday morning, January 6, 2011, at his residence at the age of 67 years. The son of the late Ted Malnae Riggs and Alice Elizabeth Easley Riggs, Teddy was born on October 17, 1943 in Cushing, OK and was raised and educated here, graduating from Cushing High School in the class of 1964. He entered the United States Air Force in October of 1966 and received his honorable discharge in October of 1970. Teddy started working for VoTech in 1986, in the printing department and had worked for them for over 15 years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Salvation Army Church, and had served in various appointments as an officer. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife Mary of the home; his children, Karla Neese and her husband Brad of Edmond, Judi Riggs of Stillwater and David Riggs of Oklahoma City; one sister Betty Carroll; 8 grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Johnny Ray Riggs, Edith Riggs, Carol Riggs and Greg Riggs. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 8, at 2 P.M. in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home with Sergeant Robert Daniels of the Salvation Army Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the Harrell Cemetery. Full military services will be performed at the cemetery. |
© Davis Funeral Home Cushing, Oklahoma January 2011 October 17, 1943 ~ January 6, 2011 Mary Elizabeth Riggs, former Cushing resident, walked into Heaven on Sunday, September 4, 2016 in Oklahoma City at the age of 74 years. The daughter of the late Robert Durham and Edith Evans Durham, Mary was born on August 16, 1942 in Pekin, Illinois. She was raised and educated in Pekin, graduating from Pekin High School with the class of 1961. She attended The Salvation Army School for Officers Training, in Chicago, Illinois and was commissioned as an officer [minister] in 1964. Mary was united in marriage to Teddy “Lee” Riggs on November 9, 1968 in Pekin, Illinois. They served as officers in The Salvation Army until 1979. Lee and Mary had three children; Karla, Judi and David. Lee preceded her in death on January 6, 2011. Mary was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Stillwater. She enjoyed doing word search puzzles, singing worship songs, crocheting, crafting and making her well-loved peanut butter cups. Mary’s greatest passions in life were helping others and her faith in God. She loved Jesus with all of her heart and felt that others needs were always more important than her own. Her favorite saying was “God is good, all the time”. It explained everything about her life and it was one of the last things she said in this life. Survivors include her children, Karla Neese and husband, Brad, of Edmond, Judi Riggs of Stillwater and David Riggs of Edmond; nine grandchildren; two brothers, John Durham of Franklin, Kentucky and Richard Durham of Joppa, Maryland along with many other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Durham. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. in the Davis Memorial Chapel. Viewing will be Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Davis Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma. |
