Richard Eldon Kirk
April 7, 1928 ~ July 14, 2008


Richard E. Kirk, lifelong Cushing resident, passed away on Monday, July 14, 2008 in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 80 years.

The son of the late Ara E. Kirk and Bertha Harris Kirk, Richard was born on April 7, 1928 in Cushing and was reared and educated in Cushing.

He was united in marriage to Jeanne McDowell on May 23, 1976 in Stroud.

Richard was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

He enjoyed fishing, drinking coffee with the guys and watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Oklahoma Sooners play football.

He was a good Christian man, a friend to all and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of over 32 years, Jeanne, of the home; four sons, Edward Kirk, Darrell Kirk, Phillip “Buster” Kirk and Steve Kirk; one daughter, Susan Kirk; two step-daughters, Robyn McDowell and Terrie Weatherford; thirteen grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two step-children, Lisa Doyle and Rick McDowell and his brother, Jimmie Kirk.

Services will be held on Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. in the Davis Memorial Chapel with Reverend Marvin Skinner officiating.

Burial will follow in the Harrell Cemetery.

Thelma Jeanne Tackett McDowell Kirk
July 19, 1933 ~ December 7, 2019


Thelma "Jeanne" Kirk, passed from this life on Saturday, December 7, 2019 at the age of 86 years.

The daughter of the late Theodore Tackett and Edith Hulsey Tackett, Jeanne was born on July 19, 1933 in Sasakwa, Oklahoma and was raised and educated in the Tecumseh, Shawnee and Pampa, Texas communities.

She was united in marriage to Robert McDowell on January 27, 1955 and to this union four children, Robyn, Rick, Terri and Lisa were born. She later married Richard Kirk in 1975 and he preceded her in death on July 14, 2008.

She was a longtime member of the Oak Street Baptist Church. She loved her church, serving her Lord. She will be remembered as a prayer warrior and for sharing her love for the Lord. She was a song writer and had written over 160 Christian songs. She was also a poet, writing well over 300 poems. For many years she shared her music talents with her sisters, singing state wide as the Grace Family Singers. She also enjoyed being associated with the Pen Cushing group and was a supporter of Friends of Israel.

Jeanne is survived by her children, Robyn McDowell and Terri Griffin; one brother Harold Tackett; six grandchildren, Holly Welch, Melanie Dunn, Shannon Mitchell, Erika Doyle, Lindsay Mitchell and Amber Floyd; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren, 2 on the way.

In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by two children, Rick McDowell and Lisa McDowell Doyle; one brother James Tackett; two sisters, Dortha Hewett and Mae Langston; one grandson Jeremy Whitely and one great-granddaughter Heaven Lynn Dunn.

Funeral services: Tuesday, December 10, 2019 in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home. Burial is in the Harrell Cemetery.

Arrangements entrusted to Davis Funeral Home, Cushing, Oklahoma.
