Floyd Edward Hopkins
July 11, 1930 ~ February 18, 2011


Floyd Edward Hopkins, Yale resident, passed away on February 18, 2011 in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 80 years.

The son of the late William O. Hopkins and Mayme Elizabeth Cooper Hopkins, Floyd was born on July 11, 1930 in Schlegal, OK.

He served his country in the United States Army Air Force and the United States Navy.

Upon his retirement from the Navy, he served as a Yale police officer from 1970 – 1980, and then served several years as the Yale Chief of Police.

He was united in marriage to Juanita Smith on July 11, 1950 in Cushing. To this union one son, David Hopkins, was born. David preceded him in death.

Floyd was a member of the United Methodist Church in Yale.

His passion was for restoring antique cars. He was a member of the Cimarron Antique Car Club and enjoyed going to antique car shows.

He also enjoyed bowling, was a member of the senior bowling league. He also enjoyed guns.

Survivors include his wife of over 60 years, Juanita, of the home; one brother, Ernest Hopkins of Cushing; one sister, Floria Todd of Yale and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and son, Floyd was preceded in death by six siblings, Beulah Hopkins, Joe W. Hopkins, Harold Lloyd Hopkins, Ruby Hamby, Dora Scott and Lucy June Smith.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 21, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. in the United Methodist Church in Yale with Pastor John Marks officiating.

Burial will follow in the Harrell Cemetery, Cushing.
