Taylor, a lifelong resident of Stillwater passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 1, 2020. He was 87. Services have been entrusted to the care of Dighton-Marler Funeral Home of Stillwater. He was born November 28, 1932 in Stillwater, Oklahoma to James and Ida Alice [Burnett] Taylor. He grew up on the family farm southeast of Stillwater. He graduated from Perkins High School in 1951 and was soon drafted into the United States Army in 1953. On October 20, 1955 he and Merle Dean Jones were married in Tulsa, Oklahoma. For a short time, he owned and operated Taylor's City Service Station in Tulsa Pumping gas, washing windshields, checking oil, and tire pressure for customers. A true, Full-service gas station that is now a thing of the past. It wasn't long until he and Merle moved back to Stillwater and made their home on his dad and mom's farm. Together they built the home that they currently lived in at the time of Oney's passing. He worked several jobs during his lifetime, but spent many years in the printing business. Oney and his brother Wayne owned and operated the Taylorsville Country Fair for nearly 20 years on the family farm where they lived. It was very common to hear good gospel music, and over 300 couples were hitched out here at Taylorsville! Some of Oney’s other interests and hobbies included raising cattle, riding horses, camping, watching western movies, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. They were the twinkle in his eye and always brought a smile to his face. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Merle; daughter, Linda Chambers and husband David of Stillwater, OK; son, Scott Taylor of Stillwater, OK; two brothers, Wayne Taylor and wife Lois of Stillwater, OK, and Dale Taylor of Tulsa, OK; five grandchildren, Deena Ferguson and husband Jason of Papillion, NE, Tony Chambers and wife Catherine of Stillwater, OK, Amy Pokrny and husband Peter of Merrill, NY, Rachel Evans and husband Darren of Cushing, OK, and Zachary Taylor of Enid, OK; and eight great-grandchildren.
