© Stillwater News Press Stillwater, Oklahoma January 25, 2011 Reprinted with Permission Chester Levon "Chet" Smith May 15, 1932 ~ January 22, 2011 STILLWATER, Okla. — Chester Levon Smith, 78, died on Jan. 22, 2011, in Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, Okla. His funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2011, at Liberty Church in Perkins, Okla. Minister Carole Lowe will be officiating. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Perkins, Okla. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Chester was born on May 15, 1932, to Vernie Ray Smith and Ester Vanetta in Bartlesville, Okla. He married Lorraine Lowry on March 14, 1953, in Redding, Calif. He attended school in Bartlesville and Stillwater, Okla. before going on to work with heavy equipment. He also worked as an operating engineer in Los Angeles, Calif., and an electrical engineer in Texas. He was a member of the Liberty Church in Perkins, Okla. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Linn A. Smith. He is survived by his wife, of Ripley, Okla.; son, Nick Levon Smith, of Stillwater, Okla.; daughter, Debra Lynn Riley Smith, of Perkins, Okla.; three grandchildren, Stephanie Rolof, of Abaline, Texas; Scott Wooden, of Noble, Okla.; and Holly Smith, of Stillwater, Okla. He is also survived by three sisters and four brothers, Lovenia Hanes, of Kansas City, Kan.; Ludie Smith, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Lovella Anderson, of Stillwater, Okla.; Laroma Lee, of Corpus Cristi, Texas; Leonard Smith, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Lewie Smith of Bartlesville, Okla.; and Larry Smith, of Hendersonville, Tenn. |
