© Strode Funeral Home Stillwater, Oklahoma December 2012 Reprinted with permission Johnnie Ray "John" McKnight September 24, 1933 ~ December 29, 2012 Johnnie Ray McKnight, 79, passed away on December 29, 2012. His service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Strode Funeral Home Chapel in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Larry Eslinger will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Glenwood Cemetery. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Johnnie was born on September 24, 1933 to Jasper and Georgia McKnight in Payne County. Johnnie lived his entire life in Payne County. He attended and graduated from Ripley High School in 1955. He hauled hay and worked on the farm with his many siblings. He joined the Army in 1955 and was discharged in 1957. He married Barbara Grimes November 4, 1961. To this marriage five children were born, Ray and wife Lisa McKnight, Jackie and wife Lisa McKnight both of Perkins, Beckie and husband Bill Breeden of Tryon, Sherrie Bryan and husband David of Edmond, and Letha Stein and husband Brad of Yukon. He married Betty Ann Sams November 12, 2001. They made their home in Stillwater. This marriage gave Johnnie four step-children. Cathy Rainwater, Micheal Patton, Cindy Bristow, Teddy Patton. He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings, Harry McKnight and wife Ruby, Roy McKnight, Beulah McKnight Wells and husband Tony, Ralph McKnight, Rena McKnight Burton and husband Joe, and Jack McKnight and wife Katie, Edna Ruth Wells-Wilkerson, brother in law Orvil Burton. He was survived by his wife, children, sisters Reba Burton, Maybelle Russell, brother Charles McKnight and wife Ann and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
