Gene Womack, longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006 at his residence at the age of 76 years.
The son of the late Coy O. Womack and Nina Fay Coon Womack, Gene was born on February 16, 1930 in Perry, OK. He later moved to Morrison where he was reared and educated, graduating from Morrison High School.
Following High School he entered the United States Marines, serving in Korea and following his honorable discharge he spent 6 years in the reserves.
Gene was married to Ruby Barton on July 3, 1971 and she preceded him in death on Dec. 14, 2004.
He was baptized in the Church of the Firstborn at Agra in April of 1971, and was a member of the VFW.
Survivors include his step-daughter, Ramona Onstott and her husband Don of Cushing; step-grandchildren, Kurt Onstott and his wife Karen and Danea Courtright; step-grandchildren, Josh Onstott, Kyle Courtright and Ryan Courtright; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his step father, Earnest Heinecke; his sister, Joyce Faye Brooks and several aunts and uncles.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, Oct. 20, 2006 at 10 A.M. in the Fairlawn Cemetery with Brother Theldon Fowler in charge.
