Billy James Williams, longtime Cushing area resident, passed away on Monday, December 19, 2005 at his residence at the age of 71 years.
The son of the late Chester Harvey Williams and Flora Catherine Potter, Billy was born on February 22, 1934 in Yale, Oklahoma, and was reared and educated in the Council Valley and Norfolk area.
Billy was united in marriage to JoAnn Harris on July 1, 1961 in Blackburn, Oklahoma, and to this union four children, Cheri, Danny, Nancy and Jimmy, were born.
He owned and operated a plumbing company in Cushing for several years prior to his retirement in 2003.
He was a member of the Advent Christian Church; was a veteran of the United States Army; he loved fishing and was known around town for his hobby of using his metal detector.
Billy is survived by his wife of over 44 years, JoAnn Williams of the home; two daughters Cheri Sovia and Nancy Poyner and her husband Jeff of Cushing; two sons Danny Williams and his wife Joni of Cushing and Jimmy Williams of the home; seven grandchildren, Joshua Sovia, Nicole Sovia, Kevin Williams, Kyle Williams, Alicia Williams, Jacob Poyner and Kayla Poyner; five brothers, Jack Williams and Lawrence Williams of Cushing, Ronnie Williams of Grand Prairie, TX, Jerry Williams of Lawrence, KS and Richard Williams of Powell, WY; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Dean Williams and one sister Wanda Lea Williams.
Services will be held Friday, December 23, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. in the Advent Christian Church with Reverend Roger White, pastor of the First Baptist Church Shamrock, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
