Edward “Ed” Leon Vogt, Sr., longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2010 in the Drumright Nursing Home at the age of 83 years.
The son of the late Willie L. Vogt and Edna Redout Vogt, Ed was born on August 29, 1926 in Ingalls, OK where he was also reared and educated.
He was united in marriage to Evelyn Jones on August 26, 1949 in Salem, AR and the couple moved to Cushing in 1953. To this union, five children, Leon, Jim, Randy, Barbara and Bruce, were born.
Ed had worked for Moore Business Forms for over 20 years. After retirement he enjoyed gardening, working on this and that and just enjoying life.
His family will remember him for being a good husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn, of the home; three sons, Leon Vogt, Jr. and his wife Cindy, Jim Vogt and his wife Rita and Bruce Vogt all of Cushing; one daughter, Barbara Vogt of the home; 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Bill Vogt and his wife Maxine and Bob Vogt and his wife Ina; one sister-in-law, Charlyn Vogt and other relatives in friends.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by one son, Randy Vogt and one grandson, James Vogt.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church with Ralph Hickman officiating.
Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
