Lee Thompson, life long resident of Cushing, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2010 in Tulsa at the age of 81 years.
The son of the late Willie Thompson and Bessie Buxton Thompson, Lee was born on July 14, 1929, in Cushing and was raised and educated here.
He was united in marriage to Thelma Sams on February 28, 1952 and to this union three children, Carol, Harry and Kevin were born.
Lee was a very talented crane operator and had worked for Cushing Metals for many years, doing whatever needed to be done.
He was a member of the Park Place Baptist Church; he enjoyed various kinds of musical instruments and was always happy to be working on cars.
Survivors include his wife of over 58 years, Thelma of the home; one daughter, Carol Simmons and her husband Harold of Cushing; two sons, Harry Thompson and his wife Karla of Cushing and Kevin Thompson of Midland, TX; one brother Frank Thompson of Cushing; 6 grandchildren, Shane Simmons, Jaime Simmons, Chris Thompson, Matt Thompson, Ryan Thompson and Lindsey Thompson; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Paul Thompson, Willie Thompson and Charley Thompson, and one grandson Justin Thompson.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 13, 2010 at 10 A.M. in the Park Place Baptist Church with Pastors Gary Brown and Tony Black, officiating.
Burial will follow in Fairlawn Cemetery.
The family will greet friends on Sunday, September 12, 2010 from 4:00 – 6:00 in the Floyd Family Center.
