Dakota Lee Scalley enjoyed playing the guitar, writing and singing songs.
He passed away on Friday, June 10, 2011, at his home in Mannford, at the age of 19 years.
He was planning on continuing his education starting this week at Career Tech in Drumright.
The son of Jerry Lee Scalley and T. J. Lacy Scalley, Dakota was born on March 10, 1992, in West Plains, Missouri, living in Missouri until he was 8 years old.
His father was a pipeliner and while traveling all over he was home schooled, later attending Career Tech as a welder. He was currently employed with Young Tool and Supply.
Dakota was saved and baptized into the Church of Christ in Mannford; he liked spending time on the river banks fishing; and drawing and sketching pictures.
Dakota was fond of studying history and daily reading of his Bible.
Playing jokes on his mother was a pastime.
Dakota would do anything to help anybody at any time, even if he had to do without. He also loved his dog.
He is survived by his parents Jerry and T. J. Scalley of the home, four brothers, Mark Scalley and his wife Angela of Cushing; Jerry Scalley Jr. and his wife Kathlene of Cushing; Henry Scalley and his wife Gabrielle of Cushing, and Jason Scalley and his fiancé Elizabeth of Claremore; two sisters, Trish Horton and her husband Joshua of Oxford, Arkansas and Marchella Strickland and her fiancé Peter of Stockton, Missouri, 16 nieces and nephews; several Aunts, Uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.
Dakota was preceded in death by his brother Russell Lee Scalley.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Oak Grove Baptist Church, with Sonny Johnson officiating.
Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery where he will be laid to rest next to his grandmother, Pattsie Lacy whom he dearly loved.
The family will greet friends on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Floyd Family Center east of the funeral home.
