Retherford, lifelong Cushing resident and retired businessman, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2006 in the St. Francis Hospital at the age of 69 years. The son of the late Leroy Retherford and Alice Marie Case Retherford, Troy was born on September 29, 1937 in Cushing OK and was reared and educated in Cushing. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marines and following his honorable discharge, returned to Cushing where he owned and operated Traco Oilfield Construction Company. He was united in marriage to Clarita Dooley for 28 years, and to this union three children, Simon, Douglas and Susan, were born. He was later married to Sharon Gustafson and she preceded him in death on December 28, 2001. Troy enjoyed being retired and able to spend time doing what he enjoyed best, his grandchildren, visiting with his buddies and also a friend of Bill W. Survivors include two children, Simon Carter Retherford and his wife Priscilla of Buffalo, WY. and Susan Marie Clark and her husband Brad of Tulsa; three grandchildren, Brett Aaron Retherford, Kristen Marie Clark and Brian Bradford Clark; three brothers, Neil Retherford and his wife Diane of Stillwater, Emery Retherford and his wife Anita of Cushing and Haskell Retherford and his wife Loretta of Cleveland and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife Sharon, he was preceded in death by two step-mothers, Jane Retherford and Bertha Retherford; one son, Douglas Dewayne Retherford; one sister, Gwendola Gilmore and one brother, Freddie Retherford. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 13, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. in the Covenant Fellowship Church with Pastor Arthur Fox officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends Thursday evening from 5:00-7:00 P.M. in the Floyd Family Center at the Davis Funeral Home. |
