Norman B. Reid
January 31, 1915 ~ July 29, 2009


Norman B. Reid passed away Wednesday evening, July 29, 2009 in the Linwood Village Nursing Home at the age of 94.

The son of the late Thomas Lee Reid and Mary Olive Fleming Reid, Norman was born on January 31, 1915 in Violet Hill, AK.

He was united in marriage to Phyllis C. Jamison on March 26, 1943 in Jacksonville, FL.

Because of his job as a pipe liner, the couple had lived all over the United States. He went to Canada twice, South America twice, Holland and Hawaii. The last 20 years, he worked for Bechtel and retired from Welded construction in April, 1976. The couple came to Cushing at this time and had lived here since.

Phyllis preceded him in death on April 1, 2001.

Norman was a member of the First Baptist Church and his hobbies included working in his beautiful yard; camping with his family and friends; he was a member of the Mason’s and was a 32nd Degree Mason with his Consistory at Guthrie, and was awarded his 50 year pin for masonry; was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers for over 60 years and was a veteran of the United States Army.

He is survived by nieces Freida Brooks of Tulsa, Olevia Collie of Midwest City and Joy Lee McLaughlin of Broken Arrow; several great-nieces and nephews and a host of many friends.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Carl Reid and Leslie Reid and two sisters, Eunice Surface and Vicky Newman.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 2 P.M. in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home with Jack Matthews, officiating.

Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
