Loweta M. [Baker] Reavis
November 14 1925 ~ April 25, 2011


Loweta M. Reavis, longtime Cushing resident, passed away on Monday, April 25, 2011 in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 85 years.

The daughter of the late Robert Victor Baker and Ella Watts Baker, Loweta was born on November 14, 1925 in Wirt, OK.

She was raised and educated in Cushing, graduating from Cushing High School in 1944.

Loweta attended Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee and had worked for Chastian’s, Anthony’s, and Dr. Gresham. She had also worked for 25 years at the Midland Co-op Hudson Refinery.

She was united in marriage to Robert Reavis on May 26, 1946. To this union two children, Renee and Robert “Nick”, were born. Bob preceded her in death on April 18, 2006, a month prior to their 60th wedding anniversary.

Loweta was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

She enjoyed painting; ballroom dancing; bowling; canoeing, which she never got her hair wet and parasailing.

Survivors include her daughter, Renee Sparks and her husband Gary of Cushing; Robert “Nick” Reavis and his wife Toni of Little Rock, AR; six grandchildren, Nathan Haikey, Julie Haikey, Sheri Medders, Gena Reavis, Antonio “Nick” Reavis and Alicin Reavis; twelve great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Loweta was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Baker and Dale Baker and one sister, Bessie Young.

Graveeside services will be held on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Fairlawn Cemetery with Brother Mike Murray officiating.
