© Davis Funeral Home Cushing, Oklahoma Printed With Permission February 2008 October 12, 1917 ~ February 20, 2008 Kenneth McLaury, retired dairy farmer and rancher, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2008 in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 90 years. The son of the late Hugh Telford McLaury and Mae Bradford McLaury, Kenneth was born on October 12, 1917, on a farm southeast of Cushing and spent his whole life in the Cushing area, attending Cushing schools. He was united in marriage to Eula Turner on May 8, 1938 and to this union four children, Bob, Wallace, Terry and Linda were born. Kenneth was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Cushing, which his grandfather, David Allan, founded more than 100 years ago. He loved to fish and hunt. He was a quiet and easy going person. Survivors include his wife of almost 70 years, Eula of the home; three sons, Bob McLaury and his wife Margaret of Ardmore, Wallace McLaury and his wife Willene of Cushing and Terry McLaury and his wife Betty of Overland Park, KS; one daughter, Linda Evans and her husband Glen of Amarillo, TX; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers. Services will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in the First Presbyterian Church with Reverend Tom Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery. Serving as casketbearers will be Rocky McLaury, Dennis McLaury, J.R. Irwin, Jeremy Bale, Matt Perky and Carl Turner. |
© Davis Funeral Home Cushing, Oklahoma Printed With Permission February 2020 February 21, 1919 ~ February 20, 2020 Eula McLaury, 101, a longtime Cushing resident, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Golden Oaks Village in Stillwater. Eula was born on February 21, 1919 in Oxford, Arkansas. Her parents, Perry and Lessie Turner, and their children moved to Oklahoma when Eula was an infant. Her father worked their family farm and her mother tended the home. Eula had happy school day memories of playing basketball and tennis, a sport in which she earned a medal. Eula met Kenneth McLaury while attending school together at Schlegel, and they were married on May 8, 1938. Kenneth and Eula were lifelong members of the Presbyterian Church in Cushing. The couple owned and operated a Grade A dairy and worked together in this business for over 30 years. Along with operating the dairy, Eula worked at Hillside School cafeteria and was the manager of the school lunch program for Cushing Public Schools for 15 years. She also worked at Safeway grocery for several years. Later she volunteered with the Payne County Election Board and served with the Payne County Extension Club for which she was awarded a 50-year pin. As you can imagine, cooking holiday meals was one of her favorite traditions, especially Thanksgiving. In addition to her parents, Eula was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth; three brothers, Homer Turner, Harvey Turner and Glenn Turner, and three sisters, Zeffie Turner, Bernice Hatten and Deloris Combs. Survivors include her children and their spouses, Linda and Glenn Evans, Amarillo, TX; Robert and Margaret McLaury, Ardmore, OK; Wallace and Willene McLaury, Stillwater, OK, and Terry and Betty McLaury of Overland Park, KS; 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. |

Services were held at 1pm Tuesday, September 10 at Arrow Heights Baptist Church in Broken Arrow and graveside service at 4pm at the Fairlawn Cemetery in Cushing. Lee was born July 17 1940 in Cushing. He resided in Broken Arrow for 22 years. After 30 years of service to Amoco Production Company he retired. He was an ordained deacon of the Arrow Heights Baptist Church. Preceded in death by his parents, Sheldon and Leola McLaury, he is survived by his wife, Glenda, daughter, Shelly Dodson of Paris, France and son, Darin McLaury of Dallas, TX; two grandchildren, Jessie and Derek Dodson, and a brother, Wayne McLaury of Tulsa. |
© Davis Funeral Home Cushing, Oklahoma Printed With Permission January 1997 August 19, 1940 ~ January 20, 1997 A memorial service was held at Fairlawn Cemetery, on Saturday, August 19, 2006, marking the occasion of Telford's interment along side the gravesite of his parents, Ray Telford McLaury, Sr. and Mable Estelle Treese McLaury. Telford, born August 19, 1940, passed away at his home outside San Francisco, CA on January 20, 1997. Telford descends from a long line of Cushing Pioneers. He is the Great-grandson of the founder of the First Presbyterian Church of Cushing, Reverend David Allen McLaury. His grandfather, Guy Leslie McLaury, was a local farmer and an Oklahoma state legislator. His father, Ray Sr., was vice-president of Farmers National Bank of Cushing, and his mother, Mable, was a local realtor, proprietor of McLaury Realty, and the daughter of Albert Leroy Treese and granddaughter of Samuel Treese, both well-known Cushing business entrepreneurs during the early years of Cushing's founding. Telford attended Cushing High School, class of 1958, and Oklahoma State University, where he graduated in 1962 with a degree in business. He began his career in the nascent computer industry, becoming a programmer, and later founding his own firm, Treese Consultants. Even after he had moved with his wife in the 1960s to San Francisco, Telford never failed to honor his Midwestern roots and always held family history and legacy in the highest regard. It is for this reason that his daughter, Virginia, has returned now to place him at eternal rest amongst his family in his hometown. |

He entered this world on July 19th, 1942 the son of Ralph Leon McLaury of Cushing, Oklahoma and Nina Clark McLaury Smith of Ponca City, Oklahoma and grandson of Cushing Pioneer Reverend David Allen McLaury founder of the First Presbyterian Church of Cushing. He grew up during an idyllic period in Ponca City, Oklahoma in the 40’s and 50’s enjoying time with his sister Susie and his many McLaury cousins dragging Grand Avenue and drinking cherry cokes at Rexall Drug Store. At Oklahoma University, Ralph was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity, where he was known as “Ace” for his consistent academic excellence. In 1967 he married Patricia, the love of this life, whom he met in college whilst she was pursuing her nursing degree. Ralph earned his Medical Degree in Internal Medicine, Class of 1967, specializing in infectious diseases, from the University of Oklahoma and thereafter served in the Medical Corps of the Army Special Forces Green Beret during the Vietnam era. He was honorably discharged as a Major in 1973, thereafter establishing a private medical practice located in the iconic Price Tower, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, in Bartlesville, OOklahoma. He later gravitated towards occupational medicine and was recruited as Phillips Petroleum’s Chief Medical Officer. Later he served in the same capacity for Exxon in Houston, Texas, and BASF in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Ralph lived a full and vibrant life filled with his passion for history, travel, music, family genealogy, captaining his sail boat, piloting his private airplane, enthusiastically serving with the auxiliary Coast Guard, worshipping with the Baton Rouge Quakers and in retirement earning a degree in Latin from Louisiana State University. He died peacefully in Bartlesville where he had enjoyed his greatest period of happiness. He is preceded in passing by his youngest daughter Molly Reagan McLaury, and survived by his beloved wife Zulma Patricia McLaury, nee Owen, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, his son Ralph L. McLaury, III, of Naalehu, Hawaii, his daughter Clara Courtney McLaury, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, his sister Edna Sue Manhoff of Estes Park, Colorado, his grandchildren Connor and Dolly, and a great many nieces, nephews, and cousins all of whom shall miss him greatly. He will be remembered as a man of strong Christian beliefs who chose a life of service to his fellow man, and as an honest, devoted, and moral son, doctor, soldier, captain, pilot, friend, cousin, brother, husband and father. Drop in viewing and visitation for family and friends will be available Monday, January 25th, 9am-5pm at Stumpff Funeral Home, 1600 SE Washington Blvd., Bartlesville, OK.
