Laura Elizabeth "Beth" [Royster] Longan
October 30, 1952 ~ November 22, 2008


Laura Elizabeth "Beth" Longan, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2008 in Nashville, Tennessee.

The daughter of Clara Anthis Royster and the late Ivan Royster, Beth was born on October 30, 1952 in Arkansas City, Kansas, where she was also reared and educated graduating from Arkansas City High School in 1970.

She graduated from Emporia State Teachers College and taught High School Home Economics for three years.

She was united in marriage to Norman C. Longan and together they raised one son, Robert Aaron Curtis.

Beth was a member of the Faith Baptist Church in Mount Juliet, TN, where she was very active. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school classes, sewing and excelling in cooking. She was very loving and a very dedicated wife and mother.

She worked as a Logistics Coordinator for Universal Lighting until her retirement.

Beth had a very winning/competitive spirit, always wanting to be her best at everything. Although she lost her battle with cancer, she has won the Heavenly Reward.

Survivors include her husband, Norman, of the home; one son, Robert Aaron Curtis; her mother, Clara Anthis Royster Ryan and her husband Fred of Cushing; two sisters, Suzanne Crawford and her husband Donald of Oklahoma City and Peggy Cook and her husband Robert of Norman; one niece, Martha; three nephews, Ivan, Nate and Matt and other relatives and numerous friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ivan Royster.

Services will be held on Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church with Reverend Sue Williams officiating.

Serving as casket-bearers will be, Ronnie Royster, Joe Royster, Jerry Caughlin, David Elliott, Gary Franklin and Earl Berger.

Honorary casket-bearers will be George Wilkinson, Mike Smith, Donald Crawford, Robert Cook and Tim Davis.

Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
