Margaret Elizabeth Johnson, a former Cushing resident, now of Ottawa, IL, passed away Tuesday, January 19, 2010, at the age of 79 years.
The daughter of the late Edgar A. Morton and Ruby A. Young Morton, Margaret was born on November 11, 1930 in Cushing, OK and was raised here, graduating from Norfolk High School in 1949.
She had played high school basketball and following graduation had worked for the Cushing Citizen Newspaper.
She was united in marriage to William L. Johnson on February 3, 1951 and he preceded her in death on March 31, 1980.
The couple had lived in numerous places but had lived the longest in St. Louis.
Survivors include her children, Scott Johnson and his wife Debra of Norway, IL and Sheri Johnson of St. Louis, MO; her grandchildren, Greg, Amy and Steve Johnson of Norway, IL, Julie (Tobe) Marchione of Palmer, AK, Lisa Trifone of Indianapolis, IN, Jim (Lee) Trifone of Brimfield, IL, and Brian Kachlic of Edgerton, WI; her great-grandchildren, Isabelle, Joseph, Anthony and Brooklyn Marchione of Palmer, AK and Westley Trifone of Brimfield, IL; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Edgar “Ed” Morton, on Feb. 19, 2008.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 25, 2010 at 11 a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until service time.
Services are under the direction of the Davis Funeral Home.
