Vesta Violet “Betty” Hoggatt, "Nannie" to most, lifelong Cushing resident, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2012, in the Linwood Village Nursing Home at the age of 96 years.
The daughter of the late Henry Dooley and Susie Reynolds Dooley, Betty was born on July 20, 1915, in Cushing where she was reared and educated, graduating from Cushing High School.
Betty was united in marriage to Chester Hoggatt on August 11, 1932. To this union three children, Pat, Wally and Terry, were born.
She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church.
Betty enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, reading the Bible, checking in on friends and family, going to yard sales, crocheting, working in her flower bed, and watching sports.
Survivors include one daughter, Pat Richeson of Gravette, Arkansas; two daughters-in-law, Louise Hoggatt of Rogers, Arkansas, and Darla Hoggatt of Cushing; five grandchildren, Teresa Mullin and her husband Bill, Jana Noel and her husband Ron, Lance Hoggatt and his wife Amy, Mick Hoggatt and his wife Ashley, and Larry Harlow and his wife Gretchen; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Betty was preceded in death by her brothers and half-sisters, her two sons, Terry and Wally, one great grandson Billy Ray Mullen, and one son-in-law Melvin Richeson.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 13, 2012, at 11:00 am, in the Fairlawn Cemetery with Ralph Hickman and Mickey Hoggatt officiating.
SERVICES HAVE BEEN CHANGED. Services will be held at the Funeral Home Chapel.
