Dorothy Baze Hickman was born in Cushing, Oklahoma, November 10, 1919. She was the fourth daughter born to Barney and Lennie (Davenport) Hawk.
She passed away April 18, 2009 at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK.
Dorothy lived over 80 years in Cushing, OK, except for two years, 1941-1943, when she lived in Youngstown, Ohio.
She worked in a factory making large ammunition.
She moved back to Cushing in 1943 and lived here until 2004 when she moved to Golden Oaks Assisted Living Center in Stillwater. She lived there until January of this year when she moved to Quail Ridge Assisted Living in Oklahoma City.
While living in Cushing she worked at the Cushing Municipal Hospital for over 20 years, and several years at the Martin Clinic for Doctors John and James Martin.
She had two children, one son Danny Baze and his wife Dana of Edmond, OK, and daughter Becky Schuler Pursell and her husband John of Stillwater; five grandchildren, Jason Hazelton of Cushing, Angela Earp also of Cushing, Cory Baze of Oklahoma City, Tonya Franklin of Edmond, and Kelly Floyd of Oklahoma City; seven great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Dorothy loved working crossword puzzles and she always had a jigsaw puzzle going until she started losing her eyesight. She never was much of a sports fan but she did enjoy watching the Braves baseball team play only because she thought the pitcher was cute.
She never forgot a good joke and she had her sense of humor to the very end.
She will be greatly missed but she’s no longer suffering. We’ll see you on the other side Mother. We love you very much.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at 2 P.M. in the Memorial Chapel of the Davis Funeral Home.
Burial will be held at Fairlawn Cemetery.
