© Davis Funeral Home Cushing, Oklahoma Printed With Permission February 2008 April 6, 1917 ~ February 18, 2008 Rhoda Mae Somers, lifelong Cushing resident, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2008 in the Cushing Regional Hospital, at the age of 90 years. The daughter of the late Charles Alonzo Belveal and Henryetta Rabb Belveal, Rhoda was born on April 6, 1917 in Cushing, OK where she was reared and educated, living here all her life. She was united in marriage to Odren Dwinell in 1935. He preceded her in death in 1941. She was united in marriage to John Somers on January 11, 1945 in Cushing. The couple had been married for over 37 years prior to his death in November of 1982. Rhoda was a member of the Tri-County Church of Christ; she enjoyed quilting, gardening, fishing, growing flowers and cooking for her family and friends, especially her homemade noodles. Survivors include her children, David Dwinell and his wife Barbara of Duluth, MN, Danny Dwinell of Cushing, John Somers and his wife Sandra of Glencoe, Gary Somers and his wife Ernestine of Tryon and Etta Mae Welch and her husband Benny of Cushing; one sister, Charlotte Grueser and her husband Roy of Oklahoma City; twenty grandchildren; forty-three great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relative and friends. In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by one infant son; one grandson, Carl Dwinell and ten brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 22, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. in the First Baptist Church with Reverend Kyle Wright, pastor of the Tri-County Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery. |
© Davis Funeral Home Cushing, Oklahoma Printed With Permission October 2010 November 3, 1940 ~ October 15, 2010 Daniel Earl Dwinell, longtime resident of Cushing, departed this life on October 15, 2010 at his home at the age of 69 years. He fought a long and difficult battle of lung cancer. Danny was born on November 3, 1940 in Beggs, Oklahoma to Floyd Odren “Odie” and Rhoda Mae (Belveal) Dwinell. He served in the Oklahoma National Guard. Danny’s favorite things to do were hunting, fishing, spending time with family, rodeos and watching OU football. He worked for Ahrberg Milling of Cushing for over 20 years. Danny was the father of seven children, 5 boys and 2 girls and grandfather to 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Billy Joe and Bonita Dwinell of Perkins, Robert Earl “Bobby” Dwinell of Enid, Debra Kay and Henry Thomas of Enid, Dana Charlene Johanningsmeier of Indiana, Daniel Earl Dwinell, Jr. of Warr Acres, OK and Shannon Eugene Dwinell of Ellinwood, Kansas; 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, David and Barbara Dwinell of Duluth, MT, John and Sandra Somers of Glencoe, OK; sister-in-law, Ernestine Somers of Wellston, OK; sister, Etta Mae and Ben Welch of Cushing; one aunt, Charlotte Gruesser of Oklahoma City; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Odie and Rhoda Mae; stepfather, John J. Somers; son, Carl Dean Dwinell and his brother, Gary Wayne Somers. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. in the Davis Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in the Fairlawn Cemetery. The Cushing American Legion Post will conduct military services at the cemetery. The family will greet friend on Monday, October 18 from 6:00 – 8:00 in the Floyd Family Center. |
