Duncan, longtime Cushing resident, passed away peacefully in his home after a lengthy illness on Monday afternoon, March 23, 2009 at the age of 60 years. The son of the late Norma Monger Duncan and Maurice Duncan, Billy was born on January 28, 1949 in Pawhuska, OK and was reared and educated in Pawhuska and Tulsa. He was united in marriage to D’Jeanne Newberry on February 28, 1975 and to this union three children, Travis, Jedidiah, and Chelsea were born. He worked for Rockwell, Boeing and Spirit in Tulsa as a facilities electrician. Billy was a member of St. Albans Episcopal Church. He served in the United States Air Force as an electronic mechanic from 1969-1973 where his adventures lead him through Thailand. He enjoyed fixing things but that always came second to music. He was affiliated with many country and blues bands, based throughout the Tulsa and Cushing regions. Among these bands were The Hard Luck Band, The Blues Benders and most recently in The Backdoor Blues Band. Billy is survived by his wife of over 35 years, D’Jeanne Duncan, of the home; three children, Travis Don Duncan and his wife Kelley of Springhill, TN, Jedidiah D. Duncan and Marissa Plumlee of Stillwater, Chelsea D’Jeanne Pollard and her husband Jeff of Cushing and Jennifer Duncan-Armstrong; four grandchildren, Aubrey Love Duncan, Lennon Jeffrey Pollard, Larsin Duncan Pollard and Avery Grace Armstrong; one brother John Duncan and his wife Connie of Ault, CO; mother-in-law, Phyllis Stevens of Cushing; brother-in-law Phil Newberry of Cushing; an Irish Setter, Rosie; many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and an extensive amount of friends which he considered family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by father-in-law Don Newberry and father-in-law Gary Stevens. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 3:00 P.M. in the Fairlawn Cemetery with Pastor Kevin Clouse officiating. |
