Funeral services were June 12, 1999 at the Palmer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bill Alton, Jr. officiating. He was born on April 12, 1937 to James Francis and Lona Irema Butler McWhirt in Pawhuska. He lived in Cushing all of his life. He graduated from Cushing High School in 1956. He was an outstanding athlete in high school, and was Basketball All Conference, and active on the baseball team. He attended Central State University in Edmond. He retired from Midland/Hudson Refinery after 24 years and also worked at the Cimmaron Towers in Cushing from 1990 to 1998. He married Roberta Shemberger on February 13, 1975 in Shawnee. He is survived by his wife, three sons, Kymer, Stillwater; Darren, Drumright; Wesley, Cushing; one daughter, Meryl McWhirt Deer, Cushing; two brothers, Don and wife, Trudy McWhirt, Cushing; Bob and wife, Janet Turley, Oklahoma City; uncle, Clarence Dune McWhirt, Davenport; aunt, Dennie Willis, Bartlesville; niece, Dionne and husband, Mike Craig, Midwest City; nephews, Dr. Brian and wife, Ellen Turley, Montgomery, Texas; Eric and wife, Misty Turley, Tulsa; grandchildren, Kyle Wilson Deer, Christopher L. Deer, Jr., Lucas Deer; and numerous other relatives and friends. Burial followed at the Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery. |
