© Davis Funeral Home Cushing, Oklahoma July 2009 November 27, 1925 ~ July 14, 2009 Richard Dwight Cackler, longtime Cushing resident, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 14, 2009, in Claremore, OK at the age of 83 years. The son of the late Claud William Cackler and Edith Marie Rhea Cackler, Richard was born on November 27, 1925 in Blackwell, OK, attending Blackwell schools until 1937, when his family moved to Cushing. Here he attended Wilson Elementary School and Cushing High School. He went to welding school in Bristow, and this is where he met Jerva Marie Bush and they were married on October 29, 1943 in Bristow. He was employed in 1943 as an electric welder at the Cushing Refinery. During World War II, on January 31, 1944, he joined the United States Navy, and took basic training at a naval base in Farragut, Idaho. After finishing basic training, he went to gunnery training school in San Diego, and he served as a gunner on the U.S.S. Atlantis. Richard was injured during World War II, and was awarded the Purple Heart for his actions. His employment was with Cushing, Midland and Hudson refineries. Richard was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a member of the Cushing V.F.W. He enjoyed his life, square dancing with Jerva and loved to hunt, fish, and camp at Oklahoma lakes. Survivors include his wife of over 65 years, Jerva Cackler of the home; three children, Barbara Hungate and her husband Don of Cushing, Chuck Cackler and his wife JoAnne of Bixby and Rick Cackler of Cushing; two sisters Nadine Smith and her husband Jay of Cushing and Charlene Harris of Midwest City, OK; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Ron Cackler and David Cackler; one brother Clyde Cackler and one sister Della. Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 17, 2009 at 10 A.M. in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Ted Uhlig, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. |

The daughter of the late William Bush and Gladys Wilson Bush, Jerva was born on August 30, 1925 in Bristow, OK and was reared and educated in Bristow. She was united in marriage to Richard Dwight Cackler on Oct. 29, 1943 in Bristow and he preceded her in death on July 14, 2009. Jerva attended the New Hope Fellowship Church. She enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, traveling, square dancing and camping. Survivors include one daughter Barbara Hungate and her husband Don of Cushing; two sons, Chuck Cackler and his wife JoAnne of Bixby and Rick Cackler of Cushing; two sisters, Billie Jo Nelson of Kansas and Donna Caudle of Mannford; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sons, Ron Cackler and David Cackler, and two sisters Louise Osborn and Nona Wycoff. Graveside services will be held on Thursday morning, Sept. 24, 2009 at 10 A.M. in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery with Reverend Steve Orton, pastor of New Hope Fellowship Church, officiating. |

Cackler, lifelong Cushing resident and CEO for the Cushing Regional Hospital, passed away on Tuesday morning, December 16, 2008, at the age of 60 years. The son of Richard Cackler and Jerva Bush Cackler, Ron was born on December 17, 1947, in Cushing, where he was reared and educated, graduating from Cushing High School in 1966. Ron's education includes bachelor of science degree from Southwestern State University in Weatherford, masters in healthcare administration from Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, doctor of pharmacy designation from the State of Oklahoma and Diplomat, American College of Healthcare Executives. Ron worked for the Cushing Regional Hospital for 34 years. During this time, he held two positions with the hospital including director of pharmacy, dual CEO for Cushing Regional Hospital and Bristow Medical Center and was currently serving as president and CEO of the Cushing Regional Hospital. In 2008, Ron was selected as CEO of the Year for Ardent Health Resources. Over the years, Ron has earned numerous awards and has been affiliated with numerous civic organizations. Some of these include being a member of the Oxford's Who's Who for extraordinary professionals, founding member and chairman of the Eastern Oklahoma Healthcare Network, past member of Oklahoma Hospital Association board of directors, voted as chairman of the Northeast District of the Oklahoma Hospital Association, past member of the Cushing Chamber of Commerce board of directors, past president of the Cushing Alumni Association, past member of the Board of the Cushing School System Foundation, 32 Degree Master Mason with his consistory in Guthrie, current member of the Advisory Committee for Bank of Cushing and Advisory Committee for Cimarron Corrections of America. Ron was united in marriage to Christie Dunaway in 2000 in Tulsa. After marriage, the couple made their home in Cushing. Ron loved being involved in every aspect of the hospital; he considered it part of his adopted family. He also enjoyed helping others in any way he could, working in the yard and different home improvement projects. Survivors include his wife, Christie, of the home; his parents, Richard and Jerva Cackler of Cushing; mother-in-law, Judy Hale of Tulsa; children, Cecele Dunaway, Brad Turner and his wife, Alisa, Jennifer Cackler, Brooke Cackler, Cody Cackler, Todd Dunaway and his wife, Lisa, and Dustin Dunaway; grandchildren, Tyler, Kaitlyn, Blake, Ashley, Tatum, Andrew and Lauren; one sister, Barbara Hungate and her husband, Don; two brothers, Chuck Cackler and his wife, JoAnne, and Rick Cackler; brother-in-law, Ron Brents; numerous family members, friends and those he considered his adopted family, whether it be his dedication to the hospital or those he took in. He was preceded in death by one brother, David Cackler. Services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Thursday from 6-8 in the Floyd Family Center, east of the funeral home.
