© Davis Funeral Home Cushing, Oklahoma December 2006 November 6, 1931 ~ December 11, 2006 Sandra Brock, retired Drumright city manager, passed away on Monday, December 11, 2006 in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 75 years. The daughter of the late Oval Swalley and Zelma Swan Swalley, Sandra was born on November 6, 1931 in Cleveland, Oklahoma and was reared and educated in the Cleveland area graduating from Cleveland high school. She was united in marriage to William “Smoke” Brock on June 8, 1949 in Cleveland and to this union three children, Bobby, Brenda and Belinda were born. The Brock’s continued living in Cleveland until 1952 when they moved to Ramona, OK, moving to the Drumright area in 1956. He preceded her in death on March 15, 2003. Sandra started working for the city of Drumright as city clerk in 1967, a position she held until 1989 when she was named active city manager, retiring in 1994. She was a longtime member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church where she was a member of the Faithful Workers Sunday School class. She had been very involved in church activities over the years, including all youth activities, teaching with the training union, teaching pre-school thru elementary Sunday school classes, helping with the young married class and serving as part-time pianist. Sandra was a past member of the Drumright Rotary Club. In January of 2005 she was awarded from the Drumright Chamber of Commerce, the outstanding citizen award, an award she was very proud of receiving. Sandra will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who cherished watching all of her family in their varied activities. Survivors include her children, Bobby Brock and his wife Laura, Brenda Magdeburg and her husband Paul and Belinda Linder and her husband Jerry all of Cushing; seven grandchildren, Kandi Turner and her husband Brian, Lacey Brock, J.R. Magdeburg, Whitney Linder, Bingham Hightower, Brooke Hightower and Bailey Hightower; two great-grandchildren, Blye Turner and Rhyder Brock and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. in the Oak Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Mike Murray, Reverend George Brock, III and Reverend George E. Brock, II officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Josh Brock, Jake Brock, David Wiles, Bill Candler, Jr., J.R. Magdeburg and Jerry Linder. Burial will follow in the Euchee Valley Memorial Park Cemetery. |
