Juana Marie [Vanaernam] Butler
July 10, 1939 ~ March 15, 2018


Juana Butler, longtime Cushing resident, passed away Thursday morning, March 15, 2018, at her residence at the age of 78 years.

The daughter of Alton “Ted” Vanaernam and Vergie Acca Bowman Vanaerman, Juana was born on July 10, 1939 in Denver, CO. She was united in marriage to Dewey Butler and he preceded her in death on September 18, 2015.

She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She was a great cook and in her early days she enjoyed dancing and fishing.

Juana is survived by her children, Rachel Sehexnider, Carla Butler, George Dean Butler, Pearl Marie Williams, Carl Butler, II, Robert Butler and one step-son George A. Butler, Jr.; One sister Tony Vanaernam; numerous grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter Darlene Butler; two sons Dewey Butler and Roland Butler.

Graveside services will be held Sunday morning, March 18, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Butler Cemetery.

Darlene Butler
March 5, 1961 ~ November 19, 2007


Darlene Butler, a former Cushing resident, now of Tulsa, passed away Monday, November 19, 2007 in the St. Francis Hospital at the age of 46 years. The daughter of George Harry Butler, Sr. and Juana Marie VanAernam Butler, Darlene was born on March 5, 1961 in Pawnee, OK and was raised here in Cushing, graduating from Cushing High School. She then attended Central VoTech and became a certified welder.

She is survived by her mother, Juana Butler of Tulsa; one son William Dewayne Butler of Lawton and his daughter Milea J. Butler; one daughter Tracy Williams of Kansas and her five children; her brothers and sisters, including George Harry Butler, Jr. of Pawnee, Rachel Butler Schexinder of Cushing, Robert Butler of Tulsa, Carla Butler of Cushing, George Dean Butler Tulsa, Dewey Butler of Tama, Iowa, Pearl Williams of Tulsa, Carl Butler, II of Florida, and Wilbur Lansford of Langley; several aunts and uncles including Emma Grace Harjo and her husband Rueben of Sapulpa, Oresa June Wilson and her husband A.C. of Cushing, Benjamin Butler of Cushing, Mary Ann Butler of Cushing, Bill “Tony” VanAernum of Angola, NY; several cousins, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, George Harry Butler, Sr, and two brothers Roland Butler and Charles Vernon Wagashi.

Tribal rites will be held on Thursday, November 22, at the Butler residence [7 miles south of highway 33 on highway 99 and east 1.5 miles].

Graveside services will be held on Friday, November 23, 2007 at 2 P.M. in the Butler Cemetery, north-east of Cushing.

Dewey A. Butler Sr
September 22, 1964 ~ September 18, 2015


Dewey A. Butler died on September 18, 2015 in Oklahoma City. He was 50 years old.

His graveside services were held on September 21st at the Butler Family Cemetery. Dewey was the son of the late George H. Butler Sr., and Juana M. VanAerna M. Butler, Dewey was born on September 22, 1964 in Pawnee.

He was raised and educated in Cushing, Oklahoma.

Following High School, he entered into the U.S. Marine Corp. After leaving the Marine Corp. he returned home to Cushing.

His father George H. Butler Sr., one sister Darlene Butler and a brother Roland Butler preceded Dewey A. Butler in death.

Survivors include his mother, Juana M. Butler and his companion, Melanie Butler, four children: Dewey A. Butler Jr., Jaime Jo Eagle, Thomas Butler and Frances Butler.

Leaving behind his siblings: George H. Butler Jr., and wife of Pawnee, Rachel L. Schexnider and husband of Cushing, Carla Schexning also of Cushing. George D. Butler of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Pearl M. Williams and husband also of Tulsa, Carl Butler of Cushing, Robert Butler of Tulsa, Billy Jo Seyo, Wilbur Lunsford, Donald Lunsford.

Additional survivors include several nieces and nephews; Harold Butler, Marie Franklin, Bruce Butler, Roland Butler Jr., William Butler, Tracy Mitchell, Diana Harjo, Randi Harjo, Georgi Butler, Juana M. Butler, Brandon Butler, Jonathan Butler, Kenneth Butler [deceased], Wyonna Brown, Michalene Butler, Cindy Butler, Phyllis Butler and Stephanie Butler.

Dewey loved the outdoors, fishing, hunting and looking for mushrooms. His pastime was bead working and working on his cars. He worked hard for his family.

We wish to thank Allen Butler for running the funeral services at the home of his mother, also we want to thank the Pawnee Veterans for the dinner they held for the Butler Family. We fully appreciate the Honor Guards of Pawnee who for four days stood watch over my son, Dewey A. Butler Sr., from the start to the grave burial. They are truly dedicated to their fellow Man till the end.

Dewey A. Butler Sr. was proud to be a Pawnee.

We appreciate the Pawnee Nation for their support.

Robbie Lynn [Stiles] Butler
September 13, 1968 ~ January 16, 2020


Robbie Lynn Butler was born September 13th 1968 to Robert Stiles and Cecillia Wiktorek in Blytheville, Arkansas. She loved to watch wildlife and had a passion for animals. Robbie enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, reading and singing. She worked as a purchasing agent most of her life and was a member of the Church of Christ. Robbie married Benny Butler on September 12th, 1987 and they lived most of their life in Nashoba, Oklahoma. Robbie passed away from this life on Thursday, January 16th in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Robbie is survived by her husband, Benny of the home; father, Robert Stiles; mother, Cecillia and Tom Wiktorek; sister, LeAnn Taylor; mother in law, Patsy Butler; nieces, Jenny and Elizabeth as well as many friends.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 23rd, 2020 at McCarn Funeral Home in Talihina, Oklahoma from 3:00PM - 6:00PM.

Pallbearers will be Michael Butler, Miles Beasley, Sherman Southard, Rodney Butler, Ashley Butler, and Thomas Wilson. Honorary Pallbearers are Tony Lovitt and John West.

Services were held on Friday, January 24th, 2020 at 2:00PM at Nashoba Christ Church with Bro. Arthur Carnes officiating. Interment followed at Butler Family Cemetery. Services entrusted to McCarn Funeral Service of Talihina, Oklahoma.
