Mary Ruth Kinzie passed away early Monday morning, July 27, 2009, in the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of 92 years.
The daughter of the late J.C. Eskridge and Bella McClenahan Eskridge, Ruth was born on April 21, 1917 in Wynnewood, OK, coming to Cushing as a young child, graduating from Cushing High School with the class of 1935.
She was united in marriage to Lester L. Kinzie on November 20, 1937 in Cushing. Before moving back to Cushing in 1975, the couple had lived in Wichita, KS for 18 years and in Arlington, TX for 12 years. Lester preceded her in death on August 7, 2004.
Ruth was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed making needle point pictures and tissue holders and knitting afghans.
Surviving include two sisters-in-law, Wanda Buckles and JoAnn Kinzie both of Cushing; several nieces, nephews including Bill and Teresa Shaffer who helped care for her, Kevin and Mary Kinzie, David Kinzie, Kristye and Rick Cooper and other relatives and friends including Jerry Bechtel who also helped care for her.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother Lester Eskridge; a sister Nellie McCuistion and an infant sister Kathyrn.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2009 at 10 A.M. in the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Ted Uhlig, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in the Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
Visitation will held at the Funeral Home and the casket will not be opened at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in her memory.
