Jerry passed away on April 26, 2025, at the age of 92 years old.
Jerry Mac Swan was born June 2, 1932, in Cleveland, Oklahoma. He was the son of Neil James and Cleora Irene (McAffrey) Swan. Jerry attended all 12 years of school in Cleveland, Graduating May 23, 1950.
Jerry joined the United States Navy on December 30, 1950, after boot camp of 9 weeks, and was assigned to the Destroyer U.S.S Shields DD-596, which she served for 44 months; during the "Korean War," he was a Gun Fire Control Technician, his ship made three trips to Korea serving with distinction, the shields was Dubbed, the Galloping Ghost of Th Korean Coast that delivered the goods when needed the most. During his honorable service, Jerry received the following medals and citations: the Korean Service Medal with four campaign stars: National Defense, United Nations, China Service, South Korea Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Action, and Good Conduct. Jerry was especially proud of his combat action and good conduct medals. Now, please don't laugh at my good conduct, and I just didn't get caught. Jerry was honorably discharged on October 15, 1954.
Jerry worked for two years at Douglas Aircraft, graduated from Oklahoma State Tech, Okmulgee, Oklahoma, in Industrial Electronics in 1958, was employed by the Federal Aviation Agency as an Electronic Tech in January 1959, and retired June 2, 1987.
Jerry was active in coaching little league baseball in the late 1960s and early 1970s. His son, as a player, won two Tulsa City Championships. He loved his Yorkies, Little Bit, Bearlie, Molly, and Tia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Neil and Cleora Swan; sisters, Suzanne, Wilma, and Joann; brothers, James, David, and John.
Surviving was his wife, Jeanette Swan, daughter; Teresa Campbell of Tulsa, Ok, son; Jerry Ray Swan of Sachse, TX, step-son; Nathan Paris of Tulsa, OK, sister; Donna Cable of Cleveland, Ok, grandchildren; Sterling Barnett, Thomas Johnson III, Christopher Swan, Angela Swan, Connor Paris, Ian Paris, great-grandchildren; Sydney Danielle Barnett, Claire Hayden Teagen Isabella Swan, Sabasion Swan, Levi Loving, and Emma Loving, and many nieces and nephews, he was loved dearly.
