Ethel F. Stearman Bowdre

Ethel F. Bowdre, 94 died at 7:08 P.M. on Sunday February 8, 2015 at the Forrest Manor Nursing Center in Dewey.

Graveside Services will be held at a later date, and will be announced by the Stumpff Funeral Home & Crematory.

Mrs. Bowdre was born February 25, 1920 at Cleveland, Oklahoma to John Henry and Ruth Marjorie (McCorkle) Stearman. She was raised and receiver her education there graduating from Cleveland High School. She was united in marriage to Louis Allen Bowdre on July 2, 1941 at the Cleveland Christian Church, at Cleveland, Oklahoma. There made their home in several towns during Louis Military service in the Army, until moving to Dewey in 1954, and made their home there and then in Bartlesville as Mr. Bowdre was employed by the U.S. Postal Service in Bartlesville. Mrs. Bowdre had worked for several years at the Washington County Memorial Hospital as a Nurse's Aide, but her primary occupation was that of a wife and homemaker. She was dedicated to her husband, children and grandchildren. If only there was space to tell all of the hilarious stories about her and her life experiences "The Little Lady was a Hoot" and all that had the privilege of knowing her, knew that.

Mrs. Bowdre is survived by her daughter Sue Tennell and her husband Tim of Bartlesville, a son Louis Bowdre Jr. and his wife Virginia of Spring, Texas, by two sisters, Ruth Ernestine (Jim) Wilkinson of Broken Arrow, and Kati Vaughn of Tulsa, by seven grandchildren; Kelley Sue Williams, Mark Bowdre, Scott Bowdre, Dustin K. Sears Sr., Dr. Heather Gilliam-Gage, Tyler Gilliam, and Trey Gilliam, by 13 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. On February 8, 2015 at 7:08pm she was met with open arms by her parents, five brothers, her husband Louis Allen Bowdre in 2004, and by a son Gary R. Bowdre and by many dear friends that went before her.
