Graveside funeral services for Lawrence Dale Younger were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at the Terlton Cemetery with Pastor Martin Younger officiating.
Lawrence Dale Younger was born on March 3, 1929 to James Plummer and Veronia Mae Younger in Searcy County, Arkansas. He moved with his family to the Terlton area in 1938 and was raised and attended school in Terlton. He passed away on Friday, April 23, 2004 at the Cushing Regional Hospital at the age of seventy-five years, one month and twenty days.
Upon completion of his education, Dale began a career in the oilfields, working as a roughneck and derrick hand. He married Louella R. Jobe in Newkirk, Oklahoma on July 29, 1950. The couple moved frequently throughout the central United States following work in the oilfields. Dale later accepted employment at the Blackwell Zink Plant where he worked until 1971. The couple then moved to Oilton. During the next seventeen years, Dale returned to the oilfields of Northeastern Oklahoma, working for Whitten Oil Company and then later, Earl Brady. Due to health problems, he retired in 1987.
He attended the Freewill Baptist Church in Oilton. Dale enjoyed camping and spending countless hours fishing and pulling his grandchildren skiing. He loved to fish and camp in the area of Johnson's hole, near Frog Rock road on House Creek, near Terlton.
Dale is survived by his wife, Louella R. Younger, of the home; daughter, Terry Lou Elliott of Tulsa, Oklahoma; three sons, Martin Dale Younger of Lakeworth, Florida, Ronald Dean Younger of Blackwell, Oklahoma and Jeffery Lynn Younger of Oilton, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren, four great grandchildren, brother, Fred B. Younger of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and two sisters, Linda L. Young and Wanda Mae Cheary, both of Oilton, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth Vern Younger; and two grandchildren, Jason and Shannelle Younger.
