Emma Jean Whittenburg Bruner

Erma Jean Bruner passed from this life on December 12, 2020, at the age of 87 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Erma was born on October 15, 1933, in Keystone, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of James and Elsie Whittenburg. Erma grew up and attended school in Keystone, where she later graduated. Following her graduation, Erma moved to Tulsa where she worked in a nursing home with her friend Gladies Miller. On July 3, 1953, Erma was united in marriage to Roy Vreeland. The two established their home in Tulsa, then later in Terlton. In 1959, Erma and Roy moved to Great Bend, Kansas. In June of 1969, they returned to Oklahoma. Erma began working at the Cleveland schools as a custodian, and later, following Roy's death, she started working full time at the school. Erma continued working at the school, retiring after 20 years of service. In September of 1994, Erma was united in marriage to John Bruner in Jennings, Oklahoma. They made their home in Jennings, and later in 2000, Erma moved to Mannford, where she resided until recently. Erma loved going to church and serving the Lord. She taught Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and anything else around the church. She loved being around her family and friends and she loved to sew, making lap quilts. Erma would often just drop by your house to visit and check on how you were doing. Erma has been a longtime member of the Terlton Baptist Church.

Survivors include her children Marilyn Harness and her husband Dwight of Tonto Basin, Arizona, Darlene Cloud of Mannford, Oklahoma, Carol Buttram and her husband Darren of Mannford, Oklahoma, Amanda Ramsay and her husband Scott of Berryhill, Oklahoma, Daniel Vreeland of Osage, Oklahoma; one sister Mary Casey of Prattville, Oklahoma; eleven grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends that will mourn her passing. In addition to her parents Benjamin and Elsie Whittenburg, Erma was preceded in death by two husbands Roy Vreeland and John Bruner, siblings Roy Whittenburg, Ralph Whittenburg, Raymond Whittenburg, Nolan Whittenburg, Bella Jane Whittenburg, Harvey Whittenburg, Sr, Ted Whittenburg, and a granddaughter Rachael Florer.
